Starting on 2025-08-01, all ethernet IP devices attached to the IBR network have to be registered at IBR. Each user may register multiple personal/private devices. Once this is done, there will be no difference compared to the situation before. Traffic from unknown devices will no longer be routed to the TU-BS network and Internet.
For some good reasons we do not want to introduce strict 802.1X authentication. We hope this step remains unnecessary. Please do not try to fake your MAC identity. You might think this would be smart, in fact the opposite would be true.
Note, this procedure only applies to private devices or other devices not managed by IBR and in use by an IBR user. In contrast, IBR-owned deviced should get registered as a host supervised by IBR staff.
ssh linux.ibr.cs.tu-bs.de.dirac.show.88:c0:8b:c5:8e:06.ibrPrivateMacAddress attribute of your user record: add ibrPrivateMacAddress 88:c0:8b:c5:8e:06. Alternatively you may edit the attribute with all its values. You may supply multiple MAC addresses on separate lines: edit ibrPrivateMacAddress.10.1.4.x, while registered private interfaces get an address like 10.1.6.x.We hope this procedure finds your convenience. Feel free to ask any questions.
